It's a bad habit borne of a wealthy upbringing that allows a critical thought to shadow her good mood; would be be here, acting all nice with his sweater vest and his laughter at her awful jokes if she weren't paying him? It had nothing to do with the fact she'd seen where he lived; she's had well-off acquaintances that had proven to be fare weather friends.
